Premier Technology Apprentices partner with Welding Students from Firth High School during National Apprenticeship Week
Blackfoot, ID – The week of November 17-23 is National Apprenticeship Week, a nationwide celebration where employers, apprentices, workforce partners, educational institutions, Federal, State and Local government agencies and others host events to showcase the successes and value of Registered Apprenticeships. This year marks the 10th anniversary of National Apprenticeship Week and Premier Technology has partnered with Firth High School to highlight the value of apprenticeships in Idaho.
Welding students from Firth High School will join Premier Technology’s welding apprentices from November 11-14 to fabricate custom fire pits. These fire pits will be donated to Firth High School during National Apprenticeship Week, to be used as part of the school’s fundraising initiatives, with proceeds directly benefiting the school.
Premier Technology has a Department of Labor registered apprenticeship program in Welding/Fabrication and Machining. Apprentices learn the trade with a combination of on-the-job-training and in-house and formal classroom training taught by the College of Eastern Idaho. Training is provided over the course of 4 years, turning apprentices into skilled fabricators. Apprentices are full-time employees and there is no cost to the apprentice. 100% of the fees are paid with a combination of the Idaho Department of Labor program, Idaho Launch, and Premier Technology. This is an excellent opportunity to receive certified professional technical training without incurring the costs usually associated with attending a college program.
